Halophila decipiens Ostenf.
H. decipiens 與其它鹽藻屬植物最重要的區別為其於葉表密布細毛、苞片及鱗片亦有稀疏的毛;葉表者細長柔軟,乍看不易覺察,苞片及鱗片者數量較少,基部明顯較粗。田野採集時,由於水下的視覺有放大效果,比起在水面上較易察覺毛的存在。本種植物在未能觀察到毛以前,形態與 Halophila ovalis 有些相似,可依據葉片脈形與花序加以區分:側脈距葉緣約為六分之一至八分之一葉寬,而 H. ovalis 的側脈貼著葉緣,相較之下 H. decipiens 的側脈距葉緣明顯較寬;橫脈數量少,約6-9對,不分支,後者9-18對,常分支;在花序上,本種雄花與雌花為同一組苞片所含, H. ovalis 則為雌雄異株。另外,鄰近地區(如菲律賓)有紀錄的Halophila ovata葉片脈形與本種相似,但植株無毛,且為雌雄異株,未來如果發現可據以區別。
Annual herbs, monoecious. Roots adventitious, 1 at each node. Rhizomes creeping, ca. 0.64 mm thick; internodes 1.0-3.2cm in length; scales amplexicaulous, transparent, abaxially pubescent, obovate, keeled, 3.0-5.2 mm in length; the apex incised. Leaves in pair on each shoot, with the petiole triquetrous, sheathing at the base. Leaf blades bright green, elliptic, 10.0-22.0 mm in length, 4.95-6.8 mm in width, puberulous on one or both surfaces; leaf apex obtuse or rounded; leaf base cuneate, shortly attenuate or obtuse; leaf margin spinulose, the teeth pointing toward the apex; trinerves, the laterals united at the apex; crossing veinlets 6-9 pairs. Spathes 2, membranous, transparent, ovate, 3.09-3.44 mm in length, acuminate, with abaxial hair, embracing 1 male and 1 female flowers. Staminate flowers semitransparent; tepals ovate, 1.1-1.5 mm in length, convex; stamens 3; anthers basifixed, ca. 0.8 mm in length. Pistilate flowers greenish; perianth wanting; ovary ovoid, ca. 1.4 mm in length; styles short, ca. 2.0 mm; stigmata 3, ca. 4.8 mm in length. Fruits globose, ca. 2.5 by 1.5 mm, long beaked; pericarp scarious, transparent. Seeds globose, 0.4-0.6 mm in length, 10-15 in number; testa areolatus; caruncle yellow.
H. decipiens is widely distributed in the tropical seas of the Indian, the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean. In Taiwan, it is found under 10 m of depth in Nanwan, along Houbihu, and extending to the west of Hengchun penisula. According to Mok et al.(1993), it extends to the depth of 25 m. H. decipiens grows on extremly fine muddy substrate, where H. ovalis is sometimes together.
H. decipiens 在台灣分布在水深二至四十公尺、極細泥質摻少量沙粒的底質上,有時與 H. ovalis 混生;根據 den Hartog(1970),本種最深曾在85公尺採得,此可能與水質影響光線穿透的深度有關。在水深十公尺以下的海底,本種的分布似和波浪影響及平台廣度無關,以核三廠入水口為例,該處水流穩定而強勁,而在後壁湖海底者則是生長在約十五度傾斜的緩坡。
